Every day, more and more people are trying to resolve their anxieties, longings and frustrations through an uncontrollable desire for consumerism, a compulsion to buy even without any need, generating momentary pleasure and often ending up not even using what they have acquired. It's very common to feel guilty about having bought unnecessarily, generating high expenses that can have an impact on your financial life.
In this guilt, the compulsive shopper tries to convince himself that he will no longer buy unnecessarily, but when he feels anxious or stressed, he buys again, generating a conflict within himself that needs a more clinical look. There are cases in which the compulsive feels hostage to this situation of lack of control and feels like a failure when he can't control himself, which is why he should seek treatment.
Symptoms that we should be aware of and if we fit into any of them, it is important to seek support and clinical help.
If you have some of these behaviors, it is extremely beneficial for you to see that you need help. This help can come from a family member or friend and, if necessary, you can seek treatment from a professional such as a psychologist or therapist in order to deal with the emotional and behavioral causes. The professional will ask the patient what leads to this compulsion to shop and will use psychotherapeutic techniques to help the patient cope better with anxiety, stress, neediness and other crises.
Before you buy, make sure you really need it and that you'll have enough money to pay the bill. Some actions that can help you not to consume unnecessarily.
If the compulsive shopper sees that he is suffering from an emotional problem and that he needs help, that is certainly a big step forward, because with treatment his anxiety and sadness will be resolved and he will find balance in his relationship with you.
Take care of yourself.
