Urban art is an artistic manifestation that takes place on the streets and interacts directly with the public. It can take place in tunnels, viaducts, buildings that are painted, graffitied, and there is also artistic manifestation in living statues and sculptures.

But what is the purpose of urban art?

For the artist, urban art provides greater accessibility and contemplation of exhibiting his art that only needs the streets to be realized and that causes great enchantment and reflection for the people who pass by where the art is exhibited. Most street artists manifest cultural, social and political issues in their art, but it can also have a simple idea of ornamenting the city, the neighborhood, in short, it is made for people to appreciate the art and if possible interact with the artistic manifestation.

Graffiti is the best-known urban art and is done with sprays that paint walls, buildings, houses, that can even interact with nature. The sculptures created can also change the setting where they are displayed and blend in with the facilities of the place. Living statues are another urban art, where the painted artist presents himself to the public in the guise of some character in a way that causes entertainment and admiration.

There is still prejudice against the manifestation of urban art, many people see it as vandalism that adds nothing to society, they say it "dirties" the city. This is due to the fact that there are graffiti artists who have nothing in common with urban art, because they are people who graffiti buildings, houses, bridges and squares to leave their mark, without caring about anyone else, a shame for the society that pays is already tired of seeing graffiti.

Urban art has purposes and meanings that can be social or not, and every day it occupies a greater space in the world. Artists have their own thoughts and cross previously unimaginable borders, with a single objective, which is to make art so that everyone can have access to it and stimulate reflection and also criticism about what Urban Art reveals.
