What Is Spagyria?

The word spagyria comes from the union of two Greek words: spao (to separate, extract) and gerios (to unite). It is the use of alchemy in the production of medicines, which act on both the physical and psychic bodies. The science of spagyria is very ancient, having its main roots in ancient Egypt.Magic, astrology and alchemy were taught in the temples of Thebes and Menphis. Alchemy was practiced under the control of priests and kings and was forbidden by law to be written down. The practice and study of alchemy arrived in Europe through Arab culture. The science of spagyrics is very old and with the works of Paracelsus its study became accessible.

Who was Paracelsus?

Paracelsus lived from 1493 to 1541, was a Swiss physician, philosopher and alchemist, who revolutionized the medicine of his time and who was rescued in the 19th century through homeopathy. He researched and studied the nature of minerals and believed in the connection between the outside world and the many parts of the human organism.An innovative doctor who prepared and applied medicines from toxic substances such as mercury, sulphur and arsenic. He discovered that the miners' illness was not divine punishment, but silicosis. 

One of Paracelsus' phrases is: "All substances are poisons, there is none that is not a poison. The right dose differentiates a poison from a remedy". The Spagyric preparation, for example, mineral salts that are extracted from plants during the process of incineration and calcination. Parts of the salts are soluble in water and parts are not. This experience demonstrates that the former have great medicinal value.The masters of alchemy let nature act calmly, without haste, using subtle energies. They use only medicinal plants without any pesticides, pure water in uncontaminated regions for the spagyric preparations. The practice of spagyrics provides a process of subtle vibrations in our being.
