Sometimes we get tired of looking at the walls of our house or some room in the house and we decide to change them, but we don't know how. Or our budget is tight and we decide to do the work ourselves or because we decide to make the room look like us and do it ourselves. But if we don't have the knowledge, how can we do it?

Here you'll learn some techniques to help you in the process of painting and texturing walls so that you can express your personal style, redesigning your home. Before texturing or painting the wall, you need to remove all the furniture  and pictures from the room, so that they don't get damaged or dirty and also so that they don't get in the way  of the work.Cover the entire floor of the room to be worked on with newspapers, tarpaulins or whatever you like, to avoid staining the floor. Sand the entire wall and level it if necessary, if necessary, use putty to make it even and smooth.

How to texture the wall?

• Graffiti: A more rustic style, a texture option that can be done both outdoors and indoors. With the use of a PVC trowel and a spatula, always moving in the same direction, giving the wall a scratched look.
• Rustic Burnt Cement: Available in various colors, it can also be used on both internal and external walls. It is widely used by people who don't have much time for cleaning, because burnt cement doesn't accumulate dirt.
• Chapiscado: Widely used on walls, but can also be applied to the walls of the house, giving a rustic look.
• Marmorato: A texture that imitates marble, made with neutral colors such as beige, white, gray, among others. It creates an elegant and sophisticated appearance in the room.
• Patina: This type of texturing gives the wall an antique and aged look, and can be done on any surface.

Painting 

Know that before painting a wall you need to be very careful to follow the necessary steps, from diluting the paint to applying it. Read the recommendations for use on the packaging carefully to ensure the success of your work. Use protective equipment such as gloves, masks and glasses. Start painting the walls from the corners, ceiling and skirting board, using brushes. Another important tip is to always remove excess paint from the brush before painting, so you don't waste paint or leave the wall stained. Use masking tape for places that need protection, so they don't get stained. Use the paint roller, always removing excess paint, never cross the direction of the paint stripes, always follow the same direction and process throughout the painted area. If a second application of paint is necessary, repeat the same process. Leave to dry for 4 or 5 hours.
