Psychological Effects of Advertising

The psychology of advertising is applied to attracting consumers through the communication of visual elements (shapes, colors, movements, tones) and also emotional elements (power, altruism, pride, among others). Advertisements present attractive images with very engaging stories that are capable of persuading future consumers.

When brands launch a product, they certainly already have a target audience and they need the product launched on the market to be propagated, which is where psychological tactics come into play. Images and emotional appeals stimulate the desire to acquire the advertised product, directly influencing the public's consumption choices.

But how does advertising construct the brand?

Advertising campaigns create a positive image of the brand and highlight the benefits that the advertised product can bring to the consumer's life, thus influencing consumers to purchase the product of a certain brand because they believe in the advantages they can gain from acquiring the product or service. This can lead people to acquire certain products or services that they don't even need at the moment, but which they have been convinced to have through advertising.

Social media has been widely used by brands to increase the visibility of their products and reach a greater number of people. Every moment countless advertisements are broadcast on social networks encouraging consumption that can cause various consumer behaviors, both positive and negative.

Advertising campaigns use psychological strategies to convince people to want what is being advertised. As a form of communication, advertising can promote a product, an idea or a service. Advertising products, ideas and services is essential if companies are to stand out in the market and have their brand known and desired by consumers, and there's nothing wrong with that. We cannot be convinced to obtain products only by advertisements but by quality and need.

Try not to let yourself be easily influenced by consumerism, not everything that is seen as necessary and "fantastic" is really the truth.
