Yoga is a practice that involves physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being and aims to help us evolve. The exact date of its origin is unknown, but it is believed to have been more than 7,000 years ago in India. Its name comes from Sanskrit, one of the languages of India, and means union or concentration. Yoga teaches us techniques of self-knowledge and relaxation, providing us with many benefits for body and mind.

Some types of yoga

  • Hatha Yoga - is the most classic style of yoga in the West. It works on the balance between body, mind and breathing. It covers lighter postures and is very suitable for people who are just starting to practice yoga.
  • Ashtanga - is the most intense yoga practice and challenges our entire physical body. It is recommended for people who want to increase their concentration and also gain physical fitness while their body is detoxified through sweat.
  • Kundalini Yoga - is one of the styles that works most on breathing exercises, helping to awaken the energy that is concentrated in the region of the first chakra.
  • Restorative Yoga - is a style of yoga that applies therapeutic methods. It is a practice with few movements, focused on leaving the body in a state of relaxation, focusing on the release of tensions in the body, producing a feeling of calm and greater well-being.
  • Vinyasa Yoga - a yoga practice consisting of continuous movements with positions synchronized with the breath. Often used by those who want to reduce stress.
  • Iyengar Yoga - focuses on staying in the postures, where it helps to treat injuries or back pain.
