Do you consider yourself a feminist?

Feminism is a movement that seeks social equality and rights for women who are fighting to end the abuse and violence they have suffered for a long time, from a patriarchal model that is now outdated;

How do you know if you're a feminist? Here I highlight some behaviors, thoughts and movements that are based on the feminist struggle.

-They believe in equal rights for men and women;

-They seek the freedom to choose what they think is best for their lives, such as getting married or not, having children or not, among other positions;

-Being authentic and free  in terms of their style of dress and behavior in society, they are never induced into any kind of censorship;

-If she's married, she knows how to divide the household chores between the couple, she doesn't accept being told what a woman's role in the house is, because she thinks gender equality is fair;

-She doesn't accept labels, such as thinking that women are sensitive and the weaker sex. Believes in her competence as a human being, as a woman;

-He is aware of his place in society and believes that he has earned it through his own merit;

-Fighting for an end to the oppression she suffers in many places, simply because she is a woman;

-She is always open to learning about new cultures, information and knows how to listen and respect, but if there is aggression and discrimination against her, she disagrees and fights for her rights;

-She knows when a woman is being discriminated against simply because she is a woman, so she helps these women to value themselves and know that they are just as important in society as men.

Not all women sympathize with the name feminism that was given to the movement, because they believe more in the empowerment that women have achieved over the years. Many issues in our current society, such as domestic violence, abortion, equal pay at work, are more addressed and discussed from the feminist movement. The name feminism is just a title, what really matters to feminists is valuing gender, we have to understand that education and respect come before any attitude. Many women who consider themselves feminists are labeled as unloved, angry, frustrated...But prejudice and hatred have no place in this movement, the fight is different, it is to believe that men and women should be treated equally.

Being a feminist isn't linked to sexual orientation, the way you dress, it doesn't mean hating men; Being a feminist means having your choices respected.
