Using plants to treat illnesses is a very ancient act of our humanity, every person surely has a relative or acquaintance who has some story of their ancestors using certain plants to treat certain ailments;It turns out that plants contain chemical substances which, if used in the wrong way and for the wrong purpose, can harm our bodies and further damage our health.


Of course there are plants that if used moderately will not cause harm, teas for example are plants used all over the world, but we have to use them with caution. There is a huge range of medicinal herbs that have beneficial properties and can be consumed in the form of teas. They are:

  • Mint: this is a perennial herbaceous plant with aromatic, medicinal and spicy properties that is widely used for digesting fats, relieving irritation in the intestines, helping to treat gas and bloating, etc.
  • Lemon balm: a herbaceous plant that is also widely used to help with gastrointestinal problems such as stomach pain, indigestion and so on.
  • Chamomile: a plant from the asteraceae family with calming properties, ideal for those suffering from insomnia and anxiety. It is also anti-inflammatory and is often used to treat allergies, burns, acne and dermatitis. Drinking chamomile tea is very welcome before going to sleep.
  • Hibiscus: a plant from the Malvaceae family, with leaves and flowers, widely used to control mild and moderate hypertension, it also has a diuretic action.
  • Mate: a plant from the aquifoliaceae family with anti-inflammatory properties and high in vitamin C. It is also widely used in the form of teas.
  • Rosemary: this shrub not only helps to control high blood pressure but also has anti-inflammatory properties and is widely used by the pharmaceutical industry in the formulation of oral health products, antiperspirants and wound healers.


There are countless plants considered to be medicinal all over our planet and before using any plant medicinally, you should consult a medical professional for advice on the benefits and also the harm they can cause to your health.
