According to the World Health Organization (UN), depression is expected to be the most common illness in the world by 2030.
We probably know someone who suffers from depression, because it has become more common than we realize in our society.
But why is depression on the rise all over the world?
Many studies point to the huge increase in new cases of depression around the world, a chaos in our modern society.
Violence is seen as a worrying factor, because the fear we have in today's society is increasing, and we often end up isolating ourselves from social interaction, thus changing our daily routine and no longer living in society in a healthy way.
Some people are better at dealing with situations of violence, loss and are able to adapt to challenges because they understand that at some point in their lives they will have to experience stressful situations and that running away or isolating themselves is not the right thing to do.
They are certainly people with a solid background, who are better at overcoming life's challenges and adversities, but even though they feel capable of facing this "crazy" reality, there are times when they need time to deal with their mental health.
Sadness and violence are often confused and misinterpreted, which is why it's important to seek help from a medical professional whenever you feel introspective for a while, feel deeply sad or want to isolate yourself without any apparent cause.
Sadness
Sadness is a normal feeling that affects our evolution in life. It usually occurs after a disappointment, loss, anger or separation, and can last a few days or a few hours.
Depression
Depression is when sadness lingers, becomes persistent and leads to a loss of interest in having an active, productive life.
People with depression lose their zest for life, experience pleasurable activities, carry a certain negativity and usually isolate themselves from society.
Treatment
First of all, go to a medical professional and tell them what you're feeling and experiencing.
Only a clinical professional will be able to diagnose what the patient is feeling, through tests and therapies that may or may not consist of the use of medication.
Never self-medicate. Good luck and live life to the full.
