Sexuality arouses the curiosity of human beings and if misunderstood can generate controversy and conflict in some respects. In recent years much has been said about  sexual orientation and gender identity, so let's clarify a few points here.

But what is sexual orientation?

It is the affective connection or attraction that a person feels for another person, and can be heterosexual, feeling attraction for people of the opposite sex, homosexual, where they feel attraction for people of the same sex,  bisexual, people who feel attraction for both men and women and also asexual, who are people who don't feel attraction for any gender.Both heterosexuals, homosexuals and bisexuals discover their sexuality over the course of their lives and become sexually or emotionally attracted to one or more genders, and this is not a choice but a discovery.

When there is no proper information on the subject in society, prejudice arises, because people without proper knowledge of the cause believe that it is not a sexual orientation but a sexual option, which is actually a big mistake, because there can be no way in our society that there are people with the wrong ideas who insist on thinking that it is an option.All over the world there is confusion in the way this subject is understood, because a large part of society still believes that it is a sexual option, which is an incorrect term, since you can't choose, you don't consciously choose to feel attracted to someone, because it's something natural.

How to understand gender identity?

The way a person identifies with their gender, be it woman, man or both, is what determines their identity, because they feel recognized both to themselves and to other people.

There are types of gender identity? Yes, there are and they are:

• Transgender in this case the person was born with a male biological characteristic but does not identify as a man but as a woman and a person who was born with a female biological characteristic identifies as a man.
  
• Cisgender people identify with the gender they were born with, if they were born with a male biological characteristic they identify as a man and if they were born with a female biological characteristic they identify as a woman.
  
• Non-binary people don't assume a social role of identifying as male or female, they escape this pattern because they refuse to live one of the two genders.

So my dear readers, we must respect everyone, without any discrimination, know that we are all human beings and our world will certainly be a much better place to live in. Knowing how to respect the reality of others opens up a good space for dialogue and makes humanity live in a healthy and happy way. When you can't understand a subject or position, seek knowledge before any attitude.
