Collecting is the practice of people acquiring, selecting and storing objects according to categories. It's not a random practice, where you go around buying things and cluttering up your house with objects, but rather an organized hobby. There are various types of collections, here are a few.

  • Book collections
  • Game collections
  • Comics collections
  • Coin and money collections
  • Toy collections
  • Stamp collections
  • Art collections

Collections are made up of objects that have a meaning, a feeling and a representative value for the collector. The aim of collecting is to create a positive memory. It's important to collect what you really like or what has marked your life in such a way that you want to keep that memory, otherwise there wouldn't be much point in collecting. How to organize a collection?

Ideally, you should organize your collection in well-ventilated and well-lit rooms to avoid the accumulation of dust and humidity. If you are going to put your collection on shelves, it is important that they are resistant to the weight of your collection. If you don't want to put your collection on display but want to store it in organizer boxes, we recommend that they are clean and undamaged, so that your collection is protected and preserved. There are people who confuse collecting with hoarding. The difference is that hoarders show very worrying signs and need clinical attention and professional help.

Collecting goes beyond acquiring objects, as it involves study and research as well as interaction with other collectors where they exchange experiences and acquire new knowledge. For those who love collecting, there are groups, websites and forums aimed at this public, where they can buy and exchange items and also interact with other collectors. Collecting is a common practice, but it's important to be vigilant if it becomes excessive and can cause psychological symptoms.
