How to Accept Ageing

Are we ready to grow old?

Are we prepared for this moment in our lives or do we go on without thinking about it?

These are questions we often ask ourselves or others, and there are also those who don't even want to know, who simply live and don't worry about aging.

But for those of you who are worried about getting older, let's talk about our "old age".

Is there an age when we should start worrying?

Well, since we were born we've been going through life and consequently one day we'll grow old, so it's a normal process of our survival here.

But I believe that when we reach our greatest maturity, we begin to worry about how we will find ourselves in our "old age".

Genetic issues play a big part in this process, but normally the habits we've had all our lives will have a big part to play in our ageing.

When I say our habits, I'm talking about how we lead our lives, such as our diet, our physical and mental activities, our emotions, etc.

It's very common to associate "old age" with a time of loneliness, incapacity, illness, which is completely wrong, because getting older is part of our existence, and it's not related to any issue of negativity, quite the opposite, it's at this point in our lives that we are more experienced and know how to take advantage of the results we have from everything we've lived through.

If we have a limited view of "old age", seeing it as a problem, we will certainly have great difficulty accepting it, which will greatly harm the healthy process of our aging.

For those who are afraid of growing old, it's important first and foremost to see and appreciate ourselves, knowing that we have a duty to take care of ourselves, so it's always time to start over or maybe start again.

Here are some attitudes that can help us understand how we age and how we can age healthily in physical, emotional and social terms.

  • Before you take any action, get to know and love yourself;
  • Take care of your body, as it is the physical tool that will take you to old age, so always exercise and if possible it is advisable to see a specialist who will show you the best ways to work on your body;
  • Eat a healthy and balanced diet, because it's what we eat that will indicate how our body will follow;
  • Make a habit of taking care of your mind too. It's extremely important to work on our emotions so that we can get on with our lives in a lighter and more positive way;
  • Also try to have social relationships, because knowing how to live well in society is extremely important for our well-being;
  • Avoid vices that are bad for your health, such as cigarettes, alcohol, among others, which only harm your body and mind and add nothing to your quality of life;
  • Break the stigma of thinking that because you're "old" you're useless, be active and try to occupy yourself with activities that are good for you or for someone else.

Don't stop loving yourself, whether you're getting older or are already old, understand that there is life in you, so live it, but in a positive and healthy way. Respect yourself and others.

Lots of energy and positive vibes to all of us.
