How to recover deleted files
03/03/2025 ● Adelil de Mello
Windows Recycle Bin
When something is deleted from the system, it is automatically sent to the "Recycle Bin" which stores these files, so when you delete a file instead of getting scared you can check the Recycle Bin which has a high chance of this file being saved there, so just click on the "Empty Recycle Bin" option.
Deleted files
Even when a specific file is deleted from the Recycle Bin, it still remains on your hard disk, i.e. saved on your computer. This is because when a file is deleted from the Recycle Bin, its area on the disk is freed up for new data to be written, but as long as this area is not occupied, the file is still saved. To access these files you need an application, such as Windows File Recovery, which you can find for free in the Windows Store, and many others:
Recuva
It can be used on various Windows systems to recover photos, music, videos, documents, etc., and even corrupted files. The application has several options for recovering your files and has a free version, but also a paid mode that offers you more support.
Disk Drill
In addition to Windows, it can be used on the macOS system and is compatible with various file types and recovery options. The system has a free plan, but also a paid mode with additional features that will help you. One of the qualities of this application is that it works on IOS phones.
