Fear is a feeling that is present in everyone's life. It works as a defense mechanism, because traumatic situations may have occurred earlier in our lives that can later result in fear.

Now, the fear of being happy is a phobia called Querophobia, which is little known but which has affected many people all over the world.

But why are there people who are afraid of being happy?

Why do they fear the idea of feeling pleasure and contentment?

Those who suffer from kerophobia have probably suffered some kind of trauma right after experiencing situations of happiness and end up associating the situations, believing that if they are very happy they will be charged for that happiness, so they avoid being happy.

What are the symptoms?

-They get anxious at the thought of feeling pleasure, joy;

-They don't take part in situations that could be a lot of fun;

-Unusual anxiety;

-They believe that if they're happy, something bad could happen later;

-He thinks that looking for happiness is a waste of time;

Although many people don't believe it can be real, this kind of fear exists and has a huge impact on the family and social relationships of those suffering from kerophobia.

In many cases, the person with kerophobia is unaware that they have developed this type of fear, so they don't even realize that they  re not allowing themselves to be happy.

What is the treatment?

Those who suffer from kerophobia need to identify that they really do suffer from this fear and consciously seek help from a medical specialist such as a therapist, who will help them greatly in this healing process.

But it's also very important that the person suffering from kerophobia has a support network, such as family and friends who will always be around to help them if they need it.

Understand that we can't predict the future, good or bad situations happen, but when we only imagine that bad situations will happen, we will certainly feel discouraged in our pursuit of happiness.

Forget past traumas, deconstruct your concept that everything will go wrong, work on your present.

We know that it's impossible to be happy all the time, but we must learn to value the moments of happiness.
