The cutlery trade is a segment that has been growing worldwide. It is a technique or art of manufacturing cutting instruments such as knives, swords, daggers, axes, razors, daggers, penknives and other various cutting tools. The art of cutlery is one of the oldest techniques of humanity, it arose in the Primitive Era, where the people of that time depended on sharp tools to survive and protect themselves, which were used as hunting weapons, for cutting and defense.

At that time, the blades were carved from very sharp stones to make the rudemint tools and over time they evolved into iron and bronze blades. The first metal cutting tools were created with copper with both sides of the blade cutting. With the discovery of bronze, a harder and heavier metal, tools were created that cut on one side of the blade. Cutlery then went on to play a big role in the development of society at that time, because it helped a lot in agriculture and hunting.

Cutlery currently combines ancient techniques with technology and is becoming more and more refined every day, with high performance and cutting precision. Highly designed, personalized and functional pieces are manufactured. Steel, a metal alloy made up mainly of iron and carbon, is the material most commonly used in the manufacture of tools, due to its high strength and durability.

Types of Cutlery

  • Industrial cutlery: Achieves a higher production of tools, as it uses machines with automation.
  • Handmade cutlery: practiced without the aid of machines, only using the effort and skill and artistic technique of the cutlery maker, where the entire manufacturing process is done by hand.

The art of cutlery can be self-taught, where a person uses their own skills and techniques to produce the tools, or it can come about through introductory courses in cutlery.
