Erudite culture is the integrality of cultural products and practices generated after studies, only specialized individuals can exercise this type of artistic manifestation. This type of art values refinement in presentations and very well studied and elaborated artistic techniques. Universities, conservatories and museums are major institutions that disseminate erudite culture.

Can we say that it's a kind of culture made for the elite?

As it is based on great study and research, resulting in highly refined presentations, it tends to have a high value and therefore only those with greater purchasing power can access it. Perhaps for this reason it is seen as a culture made for the elite

What types of culture are there?

  • Classical music: an artistic manifestation, which is characterized in its presentation with a large and complex instrumentation (several musical instruments), being performed in the form of an opera, sonata or symphony. Its presentation is usually made in large shows, such as concerts.
  • Ballet: a form of scenic dance that comes from and is trained in academies and is presented as a theatrical spectacle to the general public. The dance has a defined choreography and is accompanied by music. Ballet has the power to tell a story through the steps, the sentimental expressions and the music. You have to be very dedicated because it requires a great deal of preparation for each movement that is made on the floor and also in the air through jumps.
  • Literature: we call it the art of the word, because it is a great communication tool responsible for transmitting knowledge and culture to society.
  • Plastic and visual arts: sculptures and paintings are artistic manifestations within erudite culture. Great stories of our humanity have been portrayed in paintings, canvases and sculptures.

It is important that public and social policies ensure that anyone who wishes to broaden their cultural knowledge has access to academic institutions or cultural spaces so that they can study and thus better understand culture.
